I was fortunate to visit Croatia twice during April 2009.
At the beginning of April I was on the inaugural Ryanair flight from Edinburgh to Adriatic coastal city of
Zadar. My two favourite things in Zada city were the
Sea Organ, where the music is played by the movement of the sea water and wind and the
Greetings to the Sun,an after dark solar lights display.

From Zadar you can reach more than 100 islands, either by ferry, day excursions or boat charter. The nearby island of Pag, acessible by bridge is an ideal day trip. Slightly further afield but well worth visiting is the city of
Sibenik and the
Krka Waterfalls.

My second trip to Croatia was to
Istria, a peninsula about a two mile drive south of Venice. My favourite place in Istria was
Rovinj. The coliseum in
Pula is amazingly well preserved.

I'd recommend visiting both Istria and the Zadar region in Croatia. Prices are reasonable, as Croatia hasn't adopted the euro. There is a lot of natural beauty, both on the coast and inland, well preserved in several natural parks.
