Daniel O'Beirne - His American family roots in New Orleans trace back to Ireland, France and Spain, which led him back to Europe after a year of world travel adventures. DanO is a major foodie and enjoys medieval castles, ancient trails, olive oil, history, known & unknown places & wines of Spain and Portugal. This friendly bilingual Spain expert has lived in Iberia since 1998 and was first listed by Rick Steves the host of a PBS TV travel show in his Spain travel books over 5 years ago. DanO has been featured on the TRAVEL CHANNEL and MTV on location in Spain. He loves to help people learn about and discover the real culture, history and best food of Iberia beyond the tourist trap facades. DanO is a suffering fan of the New Orleans Saints (please send defence:-), Euro soccer and Jamon Iberico, possibly the world's best ham. A great host, some say this personable "walking encylopedia" of history & food, is one of Europe's best guides/teachers. Goals for 2009 include a week of kite surfing in Tarifa or the Canary Islands, hiking in Mallorca with his mother, adding to his a YouTube project, an article in the NY Times + a trip to Asia and the USA. His dream is to develop a historic castle hotel with vineyard, olive groves, organic gardens and confernece center.
